In today’s message (listen here), Danny talked about the importance of having Christ-centered relationships. Our temptation is to build our relationships around activities or the things we have in common. The church, however, is more than a club. Therefore, as Christians, our relationships are based on the gospel.
As Deluge, I think this is a great discussion point for us. As I’ve thought about how we could make application, my question is this: are your relationships Christ-centered? When you are with friends, do you mainly interact around various activities, or do you encourage and challenge one another in the gospel?
This can be a hard question to answer, because we all know the right answer. The trick, however, is going deeper than the surface and the “right” things to say and getting down to what really matters to us. As a follow up to Danny’s message, the next time you’re with friends, ask them this question: “Is our relationship Christ-centered or merely based on activites and the stuff we like to do?”

Jesse, Thank you for this reminder! Indeed His sermon provoked me to be asking more questions of myself as well! I can’t wait to dig deep in my own heart and life and see just what my relationships are centered on, I am also anticipating some great conversations with my fellow “delugers” (you can add that one to the dictionary… or not haha)

I’m glad you were provoked by the message. These types of messages really hit us close to home and make us challenge the way we think about things. I can’t wait to see the fruit it produces in my life and in Deluge as well.

Thanks for posting Jesse! I am so glad that our Church is talking more about relationships. I have grown up all my life with just my sisters and my cousins as friends so I never really learned how to be a friend (just a sister). This is a topic that I have much to learn about and it has been such a blessing to have teaching to on such things.
